FAQ: Why Are Extra Themes Included When I Use Avenue to Write a Theme to an ODB File?

The theme property list includes a view; therefore, when you write a theme to an Object Database (ODB) file, you include the theme's view and all the other themes in that view. To solve this, make a clone of the theme and save the clone to the ODB. Since the clone has no associations with a view, only the cloned theme is added.
