Error Message

Starting ArcCatalog generates this error:

arccat1.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows

Cause

The arccatalog.gx and normal.gxt files are corrupted.

Solution or Workaround



-- Windows 2000:

1. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to c:\document and Settings\<your_username>\Application data\esri\arccatalog

2. Delete arccatalog.gx and normal.gxt

3. Restart ArcCatalog

-- Windows NT:

1. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to c:\Winnt\Profiles\<your_username>\Application data\esri\arcatalog

2. Delete arccatalog.gx and normal.gxt

3. Restart ArcCatalog
