When saving a map template (*.mxt), the following error is returned:

Error:
Unable to save. Check to make sure you have write access to the specified file and that there is enough space on the storage device to hold your document. An unknown error occurred while accessing ***.mxt

Cause

In addition to the possible causes listed in the error message, it is not possible to make changes to a document based on a template (other than normal.mxt) and save the document as a new template.

Solution or Workaround

Create a new template based on an existing template.
