Conflict among shared COM components is returning 'Run time error 429 ActiveX Component Cannot Create Object'

Error Message

After installing the ArcView 3.2a patch, the Projection Utility returns the error:

Run time error 429 ActiveX Component Cannot Create Object.

Cause

A conflict among shared COM components commonly installed by Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Solution or Workaround

• Option 1: Download the 3.2a Projection Utility Patch. See the Related Information section.
• Option 2: You could update COM components by installing Internet Explorer 5 or higher. See the Related Information section.
