How To: Verify proper Installation of PC ARC/INFO or DAK

Procedure

Steps to I verify that PC ARC/INFO 3.5.2, or DAK, was installed properly.

Answer:

Make sure all the variables are set properly, as follows:

1. Open a DOS window
2. At the DOS prompt type: CD \ARCEXE\INSTALL
3. Next, type: ARCCHK
This command will display error messages if PC ARC/INFO environment settings are not set properly.

If you get any errors, open the AUTOEXEC.BAT file in a text editor, such as Notepad, Wordpad, or DOS EDIT, and verify the followin settings:

SET PATH=C:\ARCEXE\CMD;%PATH%
SET ARC=C:\ARCEXE
SET CGIPATH=C:\ARCEXE\CGI
SET WKSPDIR=C:\TEMPSET
WKSP=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Make sure WKSP has at least 70 Xs.

On Windows NT, check the above system settings by going to:

My Computer --> Control Panel --> System --> Properties Environment

If you need to make changes to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, you will need to reboot your system for the changes to take effect.
