Problem: Calcomp DrawingBoard III not working properly

What to do when a CalComp DrawingBoard III does not work properly.

Answer:

According to Calcomp, DrawingBoard III digitizers that have 3 banks of switches, should keep bank C in its default mode when in emulation mode. PC ARC/INFO and DAK require a CalComp DrawingBoard III to be set in emulation mode as CalComp 9100 or GTCO.

If you have problems during the DIGTEST or DIGTESTW, reset the digitizer so bank C switches will go back to their default values. Then, set the switches for banks A and B for the appropriate emulation mode. Retest the digitizer.

Notes:

This is not universal for all Calcomp DrawingBoard III digitizers; some have been known to work correctly when bank C is set up as follows:

Bank C 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0  

Calcomp claimed bank C need not be set up at all. However, this may be true only if you are using CALCOMP 9100 emulation and the CAL9100 digform and the digitizer in stream mode.

If you want to use the digitizer in POINT MODE only, and the CAL9100B digform does not seem to work for you when you use the CAL9100P digform, then you need to set up bank C as shown above.
