How To: Configure ALTEK AC30 digitizer stream mode digitizing

Procedure

Summary

Two methods to configure the ALTEK AC30 digitizer for stream mode digitizing.

Procedure

Method 1:

Use two format files: one for point mode and one for stream mode. If you are planning to digitize with stream mode then run con-dig and set up with the format file for stream mode.

The problem with using the format file with the stream mode characters in it is that you must press a '0' after each time you press a button. In other words, when you are digitizing arcs, you must always press '0' after pressing the other buttons. This applies to DIGTEST as well: when you press '9' to exit one test, you must press '0' so the '9' is accepted.

The following are the dip switch settings used:

	  SW1 SW2
------ -------
8 off 8 off
7 off 7 on
6 on 6 on
5 on 5 on
4 on 4 off
3 off 3 off
2 off 2 on
1 off 1 on

The format file for point mode:

	'ALTEKP' Point mode format file

Method 2:

You can set up a stream mode emulation by choosing the Intermittent Mode menu item from the lower left corner on the digitizer board. The digitizer must be correctly configured for point mode digitizing first. For example:

1. Click puck button 2 to insert a node.
2) Select Intermittent Mode from the menu on the digitizer board.
3) Go back to the arc you want to digitize and hold down the 1 puck key to start stream mode digitizing and trace the arc.
4) Click the 2 puck button to place a node and end the arc.
