HOW TO

Make the 'Open as read only' checkbox visible when opening a geo or table file

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Procedure

When there is a geo (.agf) or a table (.dbf) file to open, and you select one of them, there should be a checkbox that appears below the file name that says 'Open as read only'. If that box is not visible it is because the file types are hidden. In order to make the file types visible, do this:

For Windows NT:

1. Open Windows Explorer

2. Click View > Options

3. Make sure the 'Hide file extensions for known file types' checkbox on the View tab is not checked.

For Windows 95/98:

1. Open Windows Explorer

2. Click View > Folder Options

3. Make sure the 'Hide file extensions for known file types' checkbox on the View tab is not checked.

For Windows2000:

1. Open Windows Explorer

2. Click Tools > Folder Options

3. Make sure the 'Hide file extensions for known file types' checkbox on the View tab is not checked.

You should now re-start Atlas GIS and you will be able to see the 'Open as read only' checkbox when you select a geo or table file.
