Data error. Input past end of file (EOF)

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Solution or Workaround

Why do I get this message 'Data error. Input past end of file (EOF)'?

Cause:

There is a problem with the index files in a .DBF file.

Solution:

Close the project and delete the following index files (same name as .DBF) in Windows Explorer:

   .DGX
.N00
.N01
.COL

Be sure not to delete the .DBF file. Go back into Atlas and open the .DBF file by itself. After Atlas rebuilds the indexes for that file, you can close the file. Any project files that contain the .DBF file can now be opened.

The following files are associated with the Atlas .DBF file:

.DBF - Main database file for both attribute and point tables.

.N00 - Key field index file for both attribute and point tables.

.N0n - User-defined index files. Atlas supports 7 index files (.N01-.N07) per attribute or point table.

.COL - Column settings file. Contains column names and structure information about the table columns.
