HOW TO

Do Custom Projections with the Projection Utility

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Procedure

Where can I specify a Base Projection using the Projection Utility?

Cause:

Several of projections the projections listed as options in the Projector! extension, are not listed as standard projections for the Projection Utility. These are available as custom projections under the Advanced Options.

Answer:

A list of common Base Projections is available when you choose the CUSTOM option for Projected data. Make sure that the ADVANCED OPTIONS check box is checked, so that you can view and assign the PARAMETERS, DATUM, and ELIPSOID.

You can find the common Base Projections under the PARAMETERS tab.

The options are:
Albers
Azimuthal_Equidistant
Behrmann
Bonne
Cassini
Eckert I-VI
Equidistant_Conic
Equidistant_Cylindrical
Gall_Stereographic
Gauss_Kruger
Hotine
Lambert_conformal_conic
Loximuthal
Mercator
Miller_Cylindrical
Mollweide
Plate_Carree
Polyconic
Quartic_Authalic
Robinson
Sinusoidal
Stereographic
Transverse_Mercator
Two_Point_Equidistant
Van_der_Grinten_I
Winkel I-II

You will have to specify the geographic coordinate system, central meridian, and standard parallels for these projections.

The most commo parameters for some of these projections are:
