HOW TO

Access the template symbols

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Procedure

The symbols, 1011 through 1035, are reserved for use in the symbol editor
menus. The intent is that they be used as templates to create symbols, not as
symbols directly. To create new symbols go into a symbol editor, select a
template symbol and then edit as desired. After completing desired changes, you
can then save those changes to a new symbolset.

Although it is documented that you cannot access these as regular symbols, the
commands that use specific symbol values and not the current symbol can access
them; for example, POINTMARKER, POLYGONSHADES and POINTTEXT, among others. The symbols can also be
accessed by any of the symbol copy commands such as MARKERCOPY.

For example:
Arcplot: MARKERCOPY 1029 1
Arcplot: MARKERSYMBOL 1
