Last Published: April 25, 2020

Procedure

This document shows how to setup UNIX ArcInfo to access a license from a Windows NT license manager.

Answer:

This only applies to ArcInfo version 7.2.1 and NT license manager version 6.0b or higher.

To display the license manager version, go to Start--> Programs--> ESRI License Manager--> Display FLEXlm version. Add the following environment variable to the UNIX workstation's .cshrc file:

setenv ESRI_LICENSE_FILE PORT@HOST

PORT is the number preceded by "TCP:" on the first line, right hand corner of the C:\Program Files\ESRI\License\ARCINFO.lic file. HOST is the hostname of the NT computer the ESRI License Manager resides on.

In the ARCINFO.lic file below, the port is 27005 and the hostname is babylon.

SERVER babylon ESRI_SENTINEL_KEY=37100548 TCP:27005
DAEMON ESRI "C:\Program Files\ESRI\License\esri.exe"
FEATURE ARC/INFO ESRI 7.100 31-dec-99 5 4B7E50B1024E7F157FAD
