BAD IREC (VREAD)

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Solution or Workaround

Summary

This message occurs after BUILD initiates partial processing:

BAD IREC (VREAD)
Bailing out of Build...

Control is returned to the operating system. Sometimes the message refers to (VREADR).

Cause

There is a mask (MSK) file in the coverage directory which became corrupted during an ARCEDIT session.

The MSK file invokes partial processing and provides the map extent of the features to be processed. Sometimes the MSK file becomes unreadable as a result of system anomalies or incorrect user-input during an editing session.

Solution

Make sure a MSK file exists in
the coverage directory. If a MSK file is exists, delete it and run BUILD again.
