PROBLEM

PROJECT inverts a coverage

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Solution or Workaround

Problem

PROJECT tool is inverting the coverage east-west or north-south.

Answer

This is caused by the use, or lack of use of the QUADRANT subcommand in data that is in geographic (Long/Lat).

The coordinates of the data follow these conventions:

QUADRANT Latitude Longitude
-----------------------------------------
NorthEast(NE) Positive Positive
NorthWest(NW) Positive Negative
SouthEast(SE) Negative Positive
SouthWest(SW) Negative Negative

If the coordinates follow the above convention do not use the QUADRANT subcommand. If, for example, the coordinate for LAT/LONG are both positive and the data is in North America, you should use the QUADRANT NW subcommand.
