Description

Line widths or text sizes are incorrect in ArcMap-created Adobe Illustrator (.AI) files.

Cause

The output resolution of the .AI file from ArcMap is not divisible by 72.

Solution or Workaround

The AI exporter works best in resolutions divisible by 72. Export to the .AI format in a DPI that is divisible by 72; for example, 360, 720, and so forth.

The article is incorrect or the solution didn’t work.

Well, I export from ArcMap 9.2. MXD to EPS (360 dpi) and the line weight still change. 0.1 in mxd = 0.2 in eps 0.2 in mxd = 0.2 in eps 0.3 in mxd = 0.4 in eps 0.4 in mxd = 0.4 in eps 0.5 in mxd = 0.6 in eps 0.8 in mxd = 0.8 in eps 1.0 in mxd = 1.0 in eps
