The article is incorrect or the solution didn’t work.
This error is occuring with Windows XP and ArcMap 10. It occurs when trying to save an mxd to a network drive and when trying to save edits or export featureclasses to a geodatabase on a network drive. The error occurs only inside ArcMap, using Explorer or other programs to move or create large files does not give errors.

Will this problem be fixed in Service Pack 2 for ArcGIS 9.0? This is a really annoying bug.

Let us know if there will be a fix or service pack coming out from ESRI or Windows that will alleviate this problem. It is odd that this is now a problem when it was not in 8.x. This is going to be a daily pain in the neck until I find a satisfactory workaround. :-) The software actually locks up causing me to crash out and be unable to save at all when I try to save - sometimes it saves to the network on the second try and other times it locks up the program. Is there really nothing that c

The MS hotfix is only for Windows 2000. It does not address Windows XP. Any suggestions for Windows XP users?

I am not sure really. This issue seems to be un-fixable via the "workarounds" you provided. Saving to a local drive is not very desireable here. Is some kind of software patch available or going to be available.

The error is occuring with Windows XP and ArcMap 10. It occurs when trying to save an .mxd file to a network drive and when trying to save edits or export featureclasses to a geodatabase on a network drive. The error occurs only inside ArcMap. A convoluted work around is to; use "save as", open the "saved as" file, then "save as" again using the original file name, and then delete the interim "saved as" file. What is wrong with this picture?
