Question
Why does the Geoprocessing wizard cause ArcMap to crash?
Answer
• The computer runs out of memory while the GeoProcessing Wizard is processing a job. Adjusting your operating systems virtual RAM setting may help. See next item as well Related Information below.
• The sum of your computer's RAM and virtual memory exceeds 2.1GB. This issue has been resolved in version 8.2.
• The map contains a coverage annotation layer. A coverage annotation layer will be listed in the Table of Contents (TOC) like any other layer. It may also be listed in the layer dropdown lists within the GeoProcessing wizard. If you see a coverage annotation layer listed in any of the GeoProcessing wizard dropdown lists, exit the wizard and remove the coverage annotation layer by right-clicking the layer in the TOC and selecting remove. This issue has been resolved in version 8.2.

I've tried every suggestion listed here, but nothing has resolved my clipping problem. ArcMap crashes when I try to clip a contour layer to my polygon layer. Any suggestions???
