  1. [ESRI software] In geodatabase editing, the geodatabase version that receives changes during synchronization. The synchronization version is always a child of the replica version. With one-way and two-way replication, the synchronization version is automatically reconciled and posted with the replica version. If there are conflicts between the synchronization version and the replica version, the conflicts must be resolved before more data changes can be sent.
  2. [database structures] In ArcGIS 9.1 and previous versions, a data version created in a checkout geodatabase when data is checked out to that geodatabase during disconnected editing. This version exists as a copy of the original data and represents the state of the data at the time of the checkout.
