  1. [ESRI software] In an ArcGIS vertical coordinate system, an identifier that indicates whether z-values are positive up or positive down. Heights or elevations are usually positive up, against the force of gravity (indicated by +1). Depths are usually positive down, with the force of gravity (indicated by -1).
