Bhattacharyya distance

1. [digital image processing] In digital image processing, a measure of the theoretical distance between two normal distributions of spectral classes, which acts as an upper limit on the probability of error in a Bayesian estimate of correct classification. Bhattacharyya distance is named for the Indian mathematician Anil Kumar Bhattacharyya (1915–1996).
