ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) PostgreSQL and Parcel Editing Performance Patch
Summary
Description
EsriĀ® announces the ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) PostgreSQL and Parcel Editing Performance Patch. This patch addresses general performance issues when editing Parcel Fabrics, specifically when creating new parcels. This patch also includes general performance improvements when using a PostgreSQL Geodatabase. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.
Issues Addressed with this Patch
- NIM083241 - PostgreSQL: Performance is affected when querying a feature class with more than 25 columns.
- NIM084235 - St_Geometry spatial indexes are not creating S###$_IX2 indexes on the IOT SP_ID column.
- NIM084822 - Compress not trimming internal states or compressing to the base table.
- NIM085207 - Using the Parcel Editor, construction creates overlapping parcels.
- NIM085493 - Parcel StatedArea field is not calculated when the parcel misclose is greater than 1:5000.
- NIM085737 - Using the Parcel Editor, deleting a parcel deletes points of neighboring active parcels on Oracle and PostgreSQL geodatabases.
- NIM086450 - Realm (Editor Tracking) needs to be cached to prevent repeated queries to the geodatabase about this info.
- NIM086456 - PostgreSQL: Optimize queries in detecting primary key indexes when working with PostgreSQL geodatabases.
- NIM086457 - PostgreSQL: Modify the initialization parameter "cursor_tuple_fraction" to 1 when working with PostgreSQL geodatabases.
- NIM086458 - PostgreSQL: Remove the logic that creates and releases savepoints on a cursor.
- NIM086463 - Build parcels fails when a parcel has curves with exit tangent bearing that is similar to an adjacent line.
- NIM086474 - Parcel Editing Performance: Do not redraw map display after certain steps using the Parcel Workflows.
- NIM086717 - SQL Server SDE Binary Only: ArcCatalog or ArcMap crashes when displaying specific ArcSDE feature classes.
- NIM087059 - Validating a large query layer has poor performance.
- NIM087236 - Parcel Editing Performance: Eliminate unnecessary calls to the database by caching all tables.
- NIM087237 - Parcel Editing Performance: Cache all Parcel Fabric tables when start editing is called.
- NIM087238 - Parcel Editing Performance: Eliminate writing unnecessary, temporary log files to the database.
- NIM087239 - Parcel Editing Performance: Eliminate querying too much information from the Parcel Fabric Jobs table.

Installing this Patch on Windows
Installation Notes:
System Administrators: A technical paper is available that discusses the enterprise deployment of ArcGIS 10.1 setups using Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Group Policy, including additional system requirements, suggestions, known issues, and Microsoft Software Installation (MSI) command line parameters. Deployment in a lockdown environment is also covered. ArcGIS 10.1 Enterprise Deployment.
Enterprise geodatabase upgrades:You must upgrade geodatabases in the following database management systems. Geodatabase upgrades are run from an ArcGIS client. Therefore, you must apply the ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) PostgreSQL and Parcel Editing Performance Patch then upgrade your geodatabase. See the topic specific to your DBMS and its related links for instructions to upgrade a geodatabase:
- Preparing to upgrade a geodatabase in Oracle
- Preparing to upgrade a geodatabase in PostgreSQL (If you use the PostGIS geometry type in PostgreSQL, also see Esri technical article 40553 for information on supported versions.)
If you installed the ST_Geometry type in your Oracle or PostgreSQL database, upgrade the type after you install the ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) PostgreSQL and Parcel Editing Performance Patch. See the topic specific to your DBMS for instructions:
Installation Steps:
ArcGIS 10.1 Service Pack 1 for Desktop, Engine, or Server must be installed before you can install this patch.
