Summary

This patch addresses an issue where the IP address for the ArcGIS License Manager cannot be directly entered in the ArcGIS Administrator.

Description

ESRI® announces the ArcGIS 10.1 (Desktop, Engine) ArcGIS Administrator Patch. This patch resolves an issue where the IP address of an ArcGIS License Manager cannot be entered in the ArcGIS Administrator. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.

 

Issues Addressed with this Patch

  • NIM081698 - When using the IP address from the ArcGIS administrator in 10.1, connection to the License Manager fails. Error:"<IP_address> is an invalid hostname. Please enter a valid hostname."

    Description: The IP address of an ArcGIS License Manager cannot be entered in the ArcGIS Administrator at 10.1.

  • NIM081105 - Trying to save the machine identifiers to a file with the Engine 10.1 ArcGIS Administrator on Linux aborts the application.

 

Files Installed in this Patch

  • Under the Windows C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\bin folder:

    • ArcGISAdmin.exe
    • ArcGISAdmin_libFNP.dll

    Under the Linux <ArcGIS Installation Directory>/arcgis/engine10.1/bin folder:

    • arcgisadmin.exe
    • arcgisadmin.rsb
    • ArcGISAdmin_libFNP.dll

 

Installing this Patch on Windows

Installation Steps:

ArcGIS 10.1 Desktop or Engine must be installed before you can install this patch.
  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

    ArcGIS for Desktop Gis101-DT-AGS-Admin-Patch.msp
    ArcGIS for Engine Gis101-E-AGS-Admin-Patch.msp

  2. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location.
  3. Double-click Gis101-<Product>-AGS-Admin-Patch.msp to start the install process.

    NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the Patch installation, you can start the Patch installation manually by using the following command:

    msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\Gis101-<Product>-AGS-Admin-Patch.msp
  4. When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.

Installing this Patch on Linux

Complete the following install steps as the ArcGIS Install owner. The Install owner is the owner of the arcgis folder.

ArcGIS 10.1 Engine must be installed before you can install this patch.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.


    ArcGIS for Engine for Linux gis101-e-AGS-Admin-Patch-linux.tar


  2. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS.
  3. Extract the specified tar file by typing:

    % tar xvf gis101-e-AGS-Admin-Patch-linux.tar
  4. Start the installation by typing:

    % ./applypatch

    This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.
