ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 Service Pack 2.1

Summary

This Service Pack is an Update to ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 Service Pack 2. It includes all of the issues addressed in Service Pack 2, Service Pack 1 as well as an additional ArcMap issue when using 'Select by Location' found in Service Pack 2.

Description

ESRIĀ® is pleased to announce ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 Service Pack 2.1. This Service Pack is an Update to ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 Service Pack 2. It includes all of the issues addressed in Service Pack 2, Service Pack 1 as well as an additional ArcMap issue when using 'Select by Location' found in Service Pack 2. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Service Pack.

You may install this Service Pack on any ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 installation. If you have already installed Service Pack 1 or 2, you can install this Service Pack on top of either version. If you have not yet installed Service Pack 1 or 2 you only need to install Service Pack 2.1.

We recommend that all ArcGIS 8.2 customers download and install this Service Pack, at their earliest convenience, to ensure the highest quality experience when working with ArcGIS 8.2.

Issues Addressed with this Service Pack

  • CQ00174316 - I18N: accessing ArcIMS with ArcGIS.
  • CQ00179040 - Create Report hangs when GROUPING on selected set of FLOATING point field.
  • CQ00185665 - Non-close polygon generates an application error on ITopoOp::IsSimple.
  • CQ00192135 - SRs with same PCS/GCS but different precisions cannot be assigned to map.
  • CQ00194078 - Export to PDF does not draw marker font correctly.
  • CQ00208627 - Simplify returns wrong result in this case - several inner/outer rings.
  • CQ00223728 - Simplify creates rings with wrong orientation in some cases with data in GCS.
  • CQ00225907 - Simplify - remaining cases for bad ring orientations.

New Issue
CQ00240265 - Select by Location Gives "Unexpected Error" in ArcMap with 8.2 SP2 Only.

Installing the Service Pack

Since this Service Pack replaces several ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 files, ArcGIS Desktop 8.2 must be installed before you can install this Service Pack.

  1. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS Desktop, and that no one is using ArcGIS Desktop.

  2. Download ArcGIS-82-Sp2-1.exe (9MB) to a location other than your ArcGIS Desktop installation location.

  3. Double-click the setup file to start the install process.

  4. When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.

NOTE: If you have installed client setups from a shared Network Administrative ArcGIS Desktop setup, this Service Pack must be applied to all client installations.

How to identify which Service Pack is installed

Use the ArcGIS Desktop Administrator to view the information about your installation.Under ArcGIS Configuration section the current Service Pack Information is displayed.

The ArcGIS Desktop Administrator can be accessed by selecting Start > Programs > ArcGIS >Desktop Administrator.
