Description

EsriĀ® announces the ArcGIS 10.5.1 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Oracle critical issues and 12.2.0.1 support Patch. This patch addresses issues to support Oracle 12.2.0.1 on ArcGIS 10.5.1, along with other additional critical fixes. It deals specifically with the issue listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.

Note: ArcGIS clients connecting to an Oracle 12.2.0.1 database must use Oracle 11.2.0.4 or newer client.

 

Issues Addressed with this patch

 

  • BUG-000107904 - Insufficient permissions creating a new feature class in a feature dataset or deleting an existing feature class as the data owner in ArcGIS Desktop 10.5 and 10.6 with an Oracle database.
  • BUG-000105030 - Map cache creation fails for certain tiles and scales due to CachingTools crashing when specific data is sourced from an Oracle RDBMS.
  • BUG-000102310 - ORA-28578: protocol error during callback from an external procedure when querying the GDB_ITEMS_VW from an Oracle 12c SQLPlus.
  • BUG-000094243 - The full export of the Oracle data pump causes the Data Pump Import utility (impdp) to fail with "ORA-01400" errors for ST domain indexes.
  • NIM069062 - The ST_BUFFER function fails, with a "too many points" error, on multipart polygons containing a large number of points/vertices.

 

Installing this patch on Windows

 

Installation Steps:

 

ArcGIS Desktop, Engine or Server 10.5.1 must be installed before installing this patch.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

  3. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location.
  4. Double-click ArcGIS-1051-<Product>-OCIS-Patch.msp to start the setup process.

    NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:

    msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ArcGIS-1051-<Product>-OCIS-Patch.msp

 

Installing this patch on Linux

 

Installation Steps:

 

Complete the following install steps as the ArcGIS Install owner. The Install owner is the owner of the arcgis folder.

ArcGIS Server 10.5.1 must be installed before installing this patch.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
    ArcGIS 10.5.1   Checksum (Md5)
         
    ArcGIS Server ArcGIS-1051-S-OCIS-Patch-linux.tar 47841843BE4DDA09B1FD27A3DAA1608E
         
  2. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS.
  3. Extract the specified tar file by typing:
    % tar -xvf ArcGIS-1051-<Product>-OCIS-Patch-linux.tar

  4. Start the installation by typing:
    % ./applypatch

    This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.

Upgrade a geodatabase

 

A geodatabase upgrade is required on Oracle after applying this patch. To upgrade the geodatabase, follow the instructions in the help section:

Uninstalling this patch on Windows

 

  • To uninstall this patch on Windows, open the Windows Control Panel and navigate to installed programs. Make sure that "View installed updates" (upper left side of the Programs and Features dialog) is active. Select the patch name from the programs list and click Uninstall to remove the patch.

 

Uninstalling this patch on Linux

 

  • To remove this patch, navigate to the /tmp directory and run the following script as the ArcGIS Install owner:

    ./patchremove

    Notes: You can only remove the patch that was installed most recently.
