Description

Esri® announces the ArcGIS 10.0 SP3 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Geocoding General Maintenance Patch. This patch addresses issues with the quality and consistency of geocoding and reverse geocoding in ArcGIS Desktop, Engine, and Server. This patch also resolves an error that occurred when geocoding a table with null values in a required field. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.

Issues Addressed with this Patch

  • NIM048951 - Default output locator workspace in the Create Address Locator GP tool should be set in the workspace where users click New > Address Locator.

  • Description: When creating a locator, the default output location of the locator should use the location that was clicked to start the create address locator process.

  • NIM070139- Geocoding a table with blank values in the address field generates the error message "The index passed was not within the valid range” or “There was an error trying to process this table.”

  • Description: To clarify, this issue occurs when an address table contains a “null” (not blank) value in one of the required fields. The batch geocoding process fails with the error message “The index passed was not within the valid range” or “There was an error trying to process this table.”

  • NIM071299- Add support to locators for skipping the last character of a word when geocoding.

  • NIM075309- Gazetteer index building fails.

  • Description: Under some circumstances, building a Gazetteer locator will fail.

  • NIM075483- Locator producing different results depending on locale selected on users machine.

  • Description: Scores are inconsistent between an English locale setting and locales that use comma for the decimal separator.

  • NIM074862 - Locator does not display the house number for reverse geocoding before regular geocoding is performed.

  • NIM075732 - Reverse geocoding on hyphenated range addresses fails.

  • NIM075758- Geocoding toolbar fails to return a result in some situations where it incorrectly thinks there are ties.

  • Description: Under some circumstances, geocoding may incorrectly return a tie instead of a match.
