Description

Introduction

Esri® announces the ArcGIS 10.0 SP2 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Geocoding General Maintenance Patch. This patch addresses issues with locators in ArcGIS Desktop, Engine and Server that can cause the application to hang when an address contains specific characters. This patch also addresses an issue in ArcGIS Server where the output spatial reference of a locator sticks and overwrites the default spatial reference of that locator. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this Patch.

Issues Addressed with this Patch

  • NIM067736 - Periods in the street name cause batch geocoding to grow in memory and CPU use until the application crashes.

  • Description: Specific characters can cause the application to hang when an address contains these characters within the streetname component of the address.

  • NIM067418 - Composite locator only reports top-level locator name for ReverseGeocoding requests.

  • NIM068480 - When output spatial reference is set in a FindAddressCandidates request to a 10 locator, this spatial reference is used in subsequent requests where the output spatial reference is not set.

  • Description: When the output spatial reference value is set in a FindAddressCandidates request to a 10 locator that is published to ArcGIS Server, this spatial reference is used in subsequent requests even though the output spatial reference is not set for that specific request.
