Installing the Patch

Since this Patch replaces an ArcSDE 8.2 file, ArcSDE 8.2 must be installed before you can install this Patch. Install this patch using your SDE user account.

On UNIX -

  1. Download the appropriate file to your $SDEHOME directory:

  2. HP64 sde82_CQ00185193_hp64.tar.Z
    2 MB
    HP sde82_CQ00185193_hp.tar.Z
    2 MB
    IBM sde82_CQ00185193_ibm.tar.Z
    2 MB
    Linux sde82_CQ00185193_linux.tar.Z
    2 MB
    Sun Solaris sde82_CQ00185193_slrs.tar.Z
    2 MB
    SGI sde82_CQ00185193_sgi.tar.Z
    3 MB
    Tru64 (n/a)

  3. Uncompress and extract the specified tar file for your platform. Ensure that the last letter of the file name is a capital Z. Otherwise, the uncompress command will not work.
  4. % uncompress sde82_CQ00185193_<Platform>.tar.Z
    % tar -xvf sde82_CQ00185193_<Platform>.tar

On Windows -

  1. Make sure you have write access to the ArcSDE installation folder.

  2. Download the appropriate file to a location other than the ArcSDE installation folder:

  3. sde82_CQ00185193_win.zip 1 MB

  4. Use WinZip to extract the new sdeimport.exe to your %SDEHOME%\bin folder.

Identifying QFE files on your machine

    UNIX

Any modified UNIX executables (or libraries) being sent out as part of a Quick Fix will return the unique identification number for that fix when checked with the "what" command for UNIX and the "strings" command for Linux. For example, to display the identification string for this Patch on UNIX, type:

    %what sdeimport | grep QFE

    QFE-SDE-82-CQ00185193 (12/19/2002)

    Windows

To check for the presence of Quick Fixes, examine the unique identification information by a (right click, properties, version tab) action under Explorer. With only a few exceptions, all files modified as part of a QFE distribution can be uniquely identified in this manner. Under Windows 2000, select 'Product Version' under the 'Item name' column to see the unique identifier.
