ArcGIS Business Analyst Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework 9.3.1 Service Pack 1

Summary

This service pack contains performance improvements and maintenance fixes. Please download and install this required service pack.

Description

In addition to resolving issues, this service pack includes the following features:

  • Adds support for multi-part polygons for the Benchmark report. Example: A single trade area that is comprised of three non-contiguous ZIP Codes.
  • Allows arbitrary polygons (e.g. a hand drawn trade area) to be saved as trade areas in the repository via the API.
  • Provides new API methods to add, edit and delete features in the repository. Examples: Add a new store, delete a store, change location and attributes for an existing store.
  • Allows editing of attributes of items in the repository via the API.
  • Provides a new API method to add repository content as a map service.

Important Notes:
Before applying this service pack, make sure you have:

  • ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 Service Pack 1
  • ArcGIS Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework 9.3.1 Service Pack 1

If you have ArcGIS Business Analyst 9.3.1 (Desktop) installed on the same computer as ArcGIS Business Analyst Server 9.3.1 then make sure you have:

ArcGIS Business Analyst 9.3.1 (Desktop) Service Pack 1

Note any custom changes to the Web application configuration and file settings before applying the service pack. The service pack will reset the Analysis Center, XSLT Report Web Service configuration and settings files. Upon completion of the service pack, reset your custom changes to the configuration and settings.

To install the Downloaded Service Pack:
ArcGIS Business Analyst Server 9.3.1 must be installed before you can install this service pack. It is strongly recommended to back up your data before upgrading. After the service pack is applied, you will need to reset any customizations. Install this service pack using an administrative account. To install the BASDatasp1.msp, use the same administrative user account that was used to perform ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Data - 2009 Setup. To find out what products are currently installed on your machine, download the ServicePackFinder931.exe utility in this zipped file and run it from your local machine. This utility provides a report detailing the ArcGIS products currently installed and the service packs that have been installed. The report is displayed when the utility is run then a servicepack.txt log file will be created in your temporary folder.

Important Note on ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Post Installs:
If the ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Post Install does not launch automatically after the service pack has been applied, you will need to launch the ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Post Install and ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Web Applications Post Install manually from the shortcuts in your Start menu. The Post Installs may prompt a restart of your computer. You can restart after the post installation process is complete. You need to run the ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Web Applications Post Install after the Post Install. The Web Applications Post Install will you prompt for the ArcGIS Server agsadmin user account and associated password (typically ArcGISWebServices). To avoid disrupting the installation, use the same user account and password used when you initially installed ArcGIS Business Analyst Server 9.3.1 or the last time you ran the Web Applications Post Install.

Installation Steps:
ArcGIS Business Analyst Server 9.3.1 must be installed before you can install this service pack.

ArcGIS Business Analyst Server 9.3.1 contains:
  1. ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Data - 2009 Setup
  2. ArcGIS Business Analyst Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework 9.3.1 Setup
Make sure you have run these setups before installing ArcGIS Business Analyst Server 9.3.1.

To Install this Service Pack:

  1. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, it is not being accessed, and you have an administrative account.
  2. Download the appropriate files to a location other than the installation folder:
    • ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Data - 2009 MSP - BAServerDataSP1.msp - 514 KB
      Note: This MSP file should be run using the same administrative user account that performed ArcGIS Business Analyst Server Data - 2009 Setup
    • ArcGIS Business Analyst Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework 9.3.1 MSP - baserversp1.msp - 10 MB
  3. Double-click the msp files in the same order as above to start the install process.
    NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the service pack installation, start the service pack installation manually with the following command:
    Msiexec.exe /p [location of service pack]\(filename)sp1.msp
  4. When the Setup starts, follow the on-screen instructions.
