Installation Notes

It is important to keep all versions of ArcGIS products installed on the same machine in sync to avoid any software conflicts.

To find out what products are currently installed on your machine, download the ServicePackFinder92.exe utility and run it from your local machine. This utility provides a report detailing which ArcGIS products are currently installed on your machine. This will help determine which product Service Packs you should install on your machine. The report also details which service packs have been installed. The report is displayed when the utility is run and a servicepack.txt log file is created in your temp folder. The Service Pack Finder utility searches for the following ArcGIS products.

      ArcGIS ArcReader
ArcGIS Desktop (ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo) Includes the ArcReader fixes for the ArcReader FEATURE.
ArcGIS Desktop Developer Kit for the Microsoft .NET Framework, VB6, VBA and Visual C++
ArcGIS Engine Developer Kit for C++, the Java Platform, the Microsoft .NET Framework, VB6 and Visual C++
      ArcGIS Engine Runtime
      ArcGIS Image Server
ArcGIS Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework
ArcGIS Server for the Java Platform
ArcGIS Server Web ADF Runtime for the Microsoft .NET Framework
      ArcIMS
ArcIMS Web ADF for the Microsoft .NET Framework
ArcIMS Web ADF for the Java Platform

NOTE: This service pack must be installed on ArcGIS Image Server 9.2 Service Pack 4 or higher, also known as Version 9.2.1.100. It is not compatible with an earlier version. When installing the Service Editor, it must be installed on ArcGIS Desktop 9.2 Service Pack 6 and ArcGIS Image Server 9.2 Service Pack 4 or higher.

NOTE: If ArcGIS Server is installed and running a service containing an image service layer from ArcGIS Image Server, the ArcGIS Server service needs to be stopped before installing the service pack.

NOTE: You must stop any ArcGIS Image Server Service Providers or Servers before installing the service pack.

Installation Steps

    1. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is accessing it.

    2. Download ArcGISImageServer92SP6.msp to a location other than the installation folder:

      ArcGIS Image Server
      ArcGISImageServer92SP6.msp 14 MB

    3. Double-click ArcGISImageServer92SP6.msp to start the install process.

NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the Service Pack installation, you can start the Service Pack installation manually by using the following command:

        msiexec.exe /p [location of service pack]\ArcGISImageServer92SP6.msp
    4. When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.

NOTE: If you have installed client setups from a shared Network Administrative ArcGIS Desktop setup, this Service Pack must be applied to all client installations.

NOTE: You will not be able to install this Service Pack directly from any removable media, you must copy the Service Pack Install file (MSP) locally or to a location on your network prior to installing the Service Pack.

System Administrators note:
A technical paper, Deploying Managed ArcGIS 9.2 Setups, is available to provide information on deploying ArcGIS and Service Packs. This white paper discusses the deployment of ArcGIS 9.2 setups and Service Packs using Microsoft® Systems Management Server (SMS) and Group Policy, including additional system requirements, suggestions, known issues, and Microsoft Software Installation (MSI) command line parameters. Deployment in a lock-down environment is also covered.
