VFR is an acronym for visual flight rules. An aeronautical chart that is based on a set of regulations under which a pilot operates an aircraft in weather conditions generally clear enough to allow the pilot to see where the aircraft is going. Specifically, the pilot must be able to see outside the cockpit, control the aircraft's altitude, navigate, and avoid obstacles and other aircraft.
