The process of identifying and quantifying geographic patterns or the configuration of features and objects. Used to understand the behavior of geographic phenomena and compare patterns of different distributions or time periods. Spatial pattern analysis tools incorporate space (proximity, area, connectivity, and other spatial relationships) directly into the statistical analysis of spatial distributions and patterns.
