geodetic longitude

URL copied Share URL
  1. [coordinate systems] Longitude on an ellipsoid. The angle between the plane of the meridian that passes through a point on the ellipsoidal surface and the plane of a prime meridian, usually the Greenwich meridian. Because of the geometric nature of ellipsoids, the angular distance between the prime meridian and another meridian is typically the same as for its geocentric longitude.
